The short version

We count visits anonymously, and that part needs no permission because it cannot identify you. Everything beyond it is split into two separate choices you make on the cookie note, and you can say yes to one and no to the other: “Measuring the site” covers heatmaps and an anonymised replay of a visit, and “Advertising” covers two pixels, one from Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram, and one from TikTok. Those two do follow you between sites, which is why we ask first and why you can turn them off on their own. Everything we store on your device is listed below.

Your basket

When you choose a pack size, the quantity is saved in your browser's local storage so your basket survives a page refresh. It never leaves your device.

Analytics

We use Vercel's privacy-friendly analytics and our own anonymous counters to see, in aggregate, which pages and recipes people enjoy, how far down a page people read, and which buttons get used. All of it is cookieless and anonymous – nothing can identify you and nothing follows you to other sites.

Heatmaps and session replay (only if you allow “Measuring the site”)

If you allow measuring, we use PostHog to understand how pages are actually used – it builds heatmaps of where people click and how far they scroll, can replay an anonymised recording of a visit, and records roughly where in the world the visit came from. Anything you type is masked before it is recorded, so we never see it. It stores a first-party cookie on your device to tell one visit from the next, and its servers are in the EU. If you decline it never loads at all, and if you change your mind later we switch it off and clear what it stored. You can change your choice any time via Cookie Settings in the footer.

Advertising – Meta pixel (only if you allow “Advertising”)

If you allow advertising we load the Meta pixel, from the company behind Facebook and Instagram. It tells Meta which pages you looked at here and what you added to your basket, so we can measure whether our ads are working and reach people like you. It stores two first-party cookies on your device, _fbp and _fbc, which are also readable at our checkout on shop.authenticlahori.com because that is part of the same site. Your choice here is passed on to our checkout, so if you decline, no advertising pixel runs there either. If you go on to order, Shopify also sends Meta a record of the checkout and the purchase from its own servers, together with a one-way scrambled (hashed) copy of the contact and delivery details you entered – such as your email address, phone number, name and address – so Meta can match the order to an advert it showed you. The scrambling is one-way and Meta never receives those details in readable form, but they can still be matched to a Facebook or Instagram account, so we treat them as personal information and only ever send them with your consent. This one is genuinely advertising rather than measurement, and it does mean information about your visit is shared with Meta, who use it under their own privacy policy. If you decline it never loads at all, and if you change your mind later we switch it off and delete both cookies. You can change your choice any time via Cookie Settings in the footer.

Advertising – TikTok pixel (only if you allow “Advertising”)

If you allow advertising we also load the TikTok pixel. It tells TikTok which pages you looked at here, which pack you chose and what you added to your basket, so we can measure whether our TikTok ads are working and reach people like you. It stores first-party cookies on your device, including _ttp and _tt_enable_cookie, which are also readable at our checkout on shop.authenticlahori.com because that is part of the same site. Like the Meta pixel, this one is genuinely advertising rather than measurement, and it does mean information about your visit is shared with TikTok, who use it under their own privacy policy.

If you give us your email address while advertising cookies are on

We also send TikTok a scrambled (hashed) version of your email address, and of your mobile number if you gave us one, so TikTok can tell that an advert it showed you led to your visit. The scrambling is one-way and happens in your browser before anything is sent, so TikTok never receives the address itself – but it can still be matched to your TikTok account, so we treat it as personal information and it is why we only do it with your consent. We never send your name or your postal address. If you decline the consent note, or withdraw later, nothing is sent and the scrambled copy stored on your device is deleted. If you decline it never loads at all, and if you change your mind later we switch it off and delete every cookie it set. You can change your choice any time via Cookie Settings in the footer.

The one optional cookie

If you arrive by scanning the QR code on our pack and allow “Measuring the site”, we set a single first-party cookie (al_src, kept for 90 days) that remembers your visit came from the pack – it helps us know the QR code is worth printing. If you decline, nothing is set and the site works exactly the same.

Saved recipes and cooking progress

Hearting a recipe, ticking off ingredients and your cookie choice itself are stored in your browser's local storage, on your device only.

Your language choice

If you switch the site to Urdu using the language control in the footer, we store that choice in a small first-party cookie (al_lang, kept for a year) so the site opens in the same language next time. It holds nothing but a language code, it is never read by anyone else, and we do not ask for consent before setting it because a language you chose by clicking is part of the service you asked for. Switching back to English replaces it.

Checkout

Payment is handled by Shopify on their own secure pages. The cookie choice you make here is passed on to Shopify, so advertising pixels only run at checkout if you accepted them on this site. Shopify's own cookie and privacy policies also apply to that part of your visit.

Choosing for yourself

“Choose what we can use” opens both switches ready to accept, so saying yes to everything is one press. Nothing is switched on until you press save – if you open that panel and leave without saving, nothing is set and nothing follows you. Turn either switch off before you save and that part never loads.

How long your choice lasts

We remember what you chose for six months, then ask again, so a decision you made long ago is never treated as a permanent one. You can change it before then at any time using Cookie settings at the bottom of any page, which reopens the two switches exactly as you left them.

Managing it

You can clear all of this at any time by clearing site data for authenticlahori.com in your browser – that empties your basket, forgets your saved recipes and resets your cookie choice. We ask for your consent before switching on anything in this list, and we update this page before we do it, not after.
